Poets United Midweek Motif ~ Distractions, or Stops Along the Way

Not all those who wander are lost.
J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

You will never reach your destination if you stop
and throw stones at every dog that barks.
Winston Churchill

Le vrai est trop simple, il faut y arriver toujours par le compliqué.
(The truth is too simple: one must always get there by a complicated route.)
George Sand, Correspondence

Midweek Motif  ~  Distractions, or
Stops Along the Way

Today I invite poems about surprises in the best-laid plans--or detours you wish you had planned or prevented.  Or the affect of days of rest and holiday on the main dish of life. Distraction?  Rest?  Or a Better Way?

Tell it, Poets!

  4. Dear Susan, thank you for this inspirational prompt. It stretched me and I needed two days' thinking time. Great to have advance notice of it. George Sand, she was right.

  5. Sorry for the Mr. Linky problems. I re-enrolled and find it still funky! Also, it's embarrassing to say this, but I thought today was Tuesday. Talk about distractions. I'm coming around to read, and then I'm going off to think about slippage and to write a poem about distractions ...

  11. Soooo. We're done here for this week. I hope to see your work in the pantry tomorrow. I hope to tame the mighty Mr. Linky to whom we owe so much. I'll be back next Wednesday, between the holy days of two great religions, to ask "what makes a day holy?"
